Programme Details
For students looking for the ultimate adventure this summer, our fun and exciting Summer Camp has been designed to stretch and challenge both physically and mentally, while creating life-long memories in the beautiful mountains of Appi. The Camp programme will lead students on a journey of self-discovery helping them to grow in confidence and form a strong self image and identity.

Situated in the stunning location of Appi Kogen, AISL Harrow Appi school enjoys direct access to nature: pollution-free air, star-filled nights, and a clean healthy environment.

Mirroring the edge-of-city setting of Harrow School in the UK, the school’s unique location provides the ideal setting for outdoor exploration and adventure which will connect students with nature and the environment around them.

With the mountainous terrain, the programme will embrace the great outdoors and will incorporate many challenges, tasks and opportunities that will help students understand their potential, giving them experiences that will inspire and empower them to learn about their unique personal strengths. Whether hiking in the hills or gazing out of a boarding house window, students will be connected to nature, while making meeting new friends and having fun.

Activities during the week will include:
• Mountain yoga
• Nature Orienteering
• Mountain hiking
• Astronomy – star gazing
• Evening adventure/walk
• Moon Light Theatre
• Movie night
• And much more…

The Peak Challenge is the highlight of the camp. On Day Four, students will receive a briefing to prepare them for the challenge they will face the following day. Throughout the day, students will participate in skills sessions designed to prepare them for the peak challenge, including:
• Navigational skills
• Orienteering
• First Aid Skills
• Survival skills
• Group management
• Planning for the peak challenge

On Day Five, students will go on a day hike in the mountains of Appi Kogen, applying their newly acquired skills as they work together to complete various navigational tasks and challenges. This hands-on experience will bring together all the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained throughout the week, offering students the ultimate opportunity to test and celebrate their personal and team achievements.

The camp also includes daily DEAR Time sessions, which enable students to explore the connections between the activities, the leadership goals of the camp, and their own experience and learning, leading towards a 1:1 Goal Setting session on the last day of the camp where counsellors will discuss personal goals that students can develop as part of returning home after the camp.

Moonlight Theatre is another unique and exciting part of our Summer Camp programme, designed to encourage outdoor exploration. Students can participate in a variety of activities under the stars, including stargazing, storytelling, and group performances. The activity is highly versatile and fosters creativity and teamwork skills while providing an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and create lasting memories in a beautiful natural environment.

In addition to Moonlight Theatre, students can engage in various activities, including the Human Library. The Human Library helps students learn to understand themselves and others better by sharing unique stories and promoting empathy and understanding among their peers. It provides a safe space for students to share their experiences and perspectives, fostering effective teamwork and stronger relationships.
Against such a backdrop and with these outstanding facilities on their doorstep, students will be inspired and motivated to accomplish more, possibly more than they ever thought they were capable of!
