Programme Highlights
1. A Clear Educational Aim
Choose a Field · Learn Like a Cambridge Student · Build G5‑Level Academic Habits
Across two weeks, students follow one integrated academic rubric: to live the rhythm of Cambridge collegiate study, explore a chosen academic field through lectures and seminars, practise Oxbridge‑style thinking and communication daily, and produce a capstone output that demonstrates clarity, maturity, and academic potential.
2. Small‑Group Teaching That Drives Real Learning
With a maximum cohort of 20 students, teaching is intentionally small and rigorous. Each pathway class typically includes 5–7 students, allowing for:
- frequent speaking and questioning
- personalised feedback on writing and argument
- real discussion rather than passive listening
- specific, actionable mentor guidance
Teaching follows a British university style: short lectures, readingbased seminars, and discussionled workshops. Students are coached to form a view, justify it with evidence, respond to challenge with clarity, and improve through daily feedback.
3. Three Integrated Learning Strands
Learning is organised through three strands that run throughout the programme:
- Pathway Study — Choose a Field: Focused academic pathways delivered through lectures, seminars, workshops, and guided readings. The emphasis is depth and realism: understanding what a discipline truly involves and whether it is a good intellectual fit.
- Oxbridge‑Style Skills Coaching: Daily training in the academic habits universities reward most, including structured argument, critical thinking, academic writing, confident speaking, and performance under questioning.
- G5 Exposure & Cultural Immersion: Curated university visits and cultural experiences that provide real insight into elite UK higher education and build confidence navigating academic and cultural environments independently.
4. Programme Structure & Core Modules
A. Academic & CollegeBased Modules
- Cambridge College Life — For Real
Students live at St Catharine’s College and experience the routines that build independence: dining hall culture, time management, selfregulation, and collegiate community. Independence is structured and supervised, allowing students to mature safely. - Choose a Field — Pathway Study
Students explore one academic discipline in depth through lectures and smallgroup seminars, gaining a realistic understanding of what the subject truly involves. Example pathways may include Psychology & Human Behaviour, Law, Society & Argument, Business & Economics, English & Cultural Analysis, PPEstyle thinking, or STEM. - OxbridgeStyle Skills That Stand Out
Students practise the skills that distinguish strong applicants: - structured argument (claim → reasons → evidence → counterpoint)
- academic writing (clarity, logic, precision)
- confident speaking under pressure
- thinking through questioning
- effective notetaking and academic reading
- Capstone Study & Showcase
Students complete a capstone project demonstrating researchbased thinking, structured writing or presentation, clear argumentation, and confident response to questioning.
B. G5 Exposure & Cultural Immersion
- G5 London University Exploration — Real Insight
A curated London programme introducing students to the expectations and culture of elite UK universities through selected campus visits, conversations with current students, and admissionsstyle insight sessions. - UK Cultural Immersion — Confidence Through Experience
Purposeful cultural activities that build maturity and confidence, with highlights typically including Parliament, Oxford, curated museum experiences, outdoor challenges, and a live show or concert (subject to availability).
Learning Outcomes
UK G5 Horizons is not a credentialdriven course or a superficial taster. It is a serious academic and personal development experience designed to help students:
- understand what elite UK university study actually demands
- explore academic pathways with clarity and realism
- develop the thinking, writing, and speaking habits universities reward
- build confidence, independence, and maturity in a UK context
- articulate academic interests with credibility and evidence
