Calling all young inventors, problem-solvers and future engineers — Green City needs you! In a world where technology is everywhere, EcoBot Patrol: Mission Green City gives children the chance to go beyond simply using technology and start building it themselves. This exciting 4-day STEAM robotics programme invites students to become EcoBot Agents, a team of young robot engineers on a mission to help a future city become cleaner, safer and greener.

Set in the story world of Green City, students will take on a series of hands-on robotics missions inspired by real-world sustainability challenges. Waste needs to be collected, wildlife must be protected, recyclable materials have to be sorted, streets need sweeping, and important resources must be transported across the city. To solve these challenges, students will build and code working robot models using motors, gears, sensors, pulleys and other mechanical components.
Throughout the camp, children will learn by doing: building, testing, coding, debugging and improving their robots through trial and discovery. Tablets are used as a coding tool, but the heart of the experience is hands-on construction, imaginative problem-solving and the excitement of seeing a robot move because of something they created.

Programme Highlights
1. A Story-Led Robotics Adventure
Students join the EcoBot Patrol as young robot agents protecting Green City. Each build is framed as a mission with a clear purpose, from cleaning up waste and protecting wildlife to transporting resources and supporting a greener community. This narrative approach keeps children engaged while helping them understand how robotics can connect to real-world challenges.
2. Hands-On Engineering with Real Robot Parts
Students build working robot models using motors, gears, sensors, pulleys, belts and mechanical components. Instead of only learning theory, they discover how machines move by making them work — testing speed, strength, lifting, sweeping and movement through practical challenges.
3. Beginner-Friendly Coding and Smart Robot Behaviours
Using simple drag-and-drop coding on a tablet, students programme their robots to move, stop, follow sequences and respond to sensor inputs. They will explore how motion and tilt sensors allow robots to react to the world around them, helping them build early confidence in coding, automation and computational thinking.
4. Explore Exciting EcoBot Missions
Depending on students’ pace and ability, missions may include:
- Waste-Sorting Scout : Precision navigation for collecting and sorting recyclable waste materials. (a motorised robot designed to retrieve scattered waste)
- Wildlife-Guardian Sentry: Sensor-driven patrol for protecting local wildlife habitats. (a robot that stops when it detects animals nearby)
- Resource-Haul Power Titan: High-torque heavy-duty sweeping and transporting of critical resources. (a gear-and-motor-powered cleaner for city pathways)
- Green City Rescue Megabot: Championship challenge for designing and building a
custom sustainability robot. a student-designed robot created to solve a sustainability challenge
Please note: students will explore a variety of robot designs during the 4-day programme. The exact number of robots completed may vary depending on students’ age, pace, confidence and ability level.
5. Test, Improve and Present Like Young Engineers
Students will test their robots against mission goals, identify what can be improved, adjust their builds or code, and try again. They will also have opportunities to demonstrate their creations and explain the problem their robot is designed to solve, building resilience, communication skills and confidence.
