This dynamic 5-day camp introduces children to a systematic Phonics approach, laying a strong foundation for early literacy. Through exciting, hands-on activities, it sparks a lifelong love for reading. Designed specifically for very young learners, the camp combines structured, high-energy activities with opportunities to practise Phonics skills, empowering children to discover the joy of reading and unlock a world of knowledge through Phonics.

Fees include

For day camps, the fee includes study materials, providing the necessary resources for each student's daily activities and learning experiences.

Please be aware that transportation to and from the camp, flight tickets, visa fees, and personal travel insurance are not included in the camp fees and should be arranged separately by the participants.

Sample Timetable

Programme Details

  • Circle Time: To get students ready for the day. Establish rules and routines.
  • Review Activities: To recap what students learnt the day before through fun games and activities.
  • Letter sounds and letter formation: Students work on identifying and producing the 44 letter sounds and the letter formation of the letters.
  • Blending: Students work on their blending skills starting with oral blending and then CVC words.
  • Story Time: Students will engage with the story through re-telling, role-play and craft.
  • Segmenting: Students work on their segmenting skills to develop the skills to spell using letter sounds.
  • Wrap up: To reflect with students what they did in the day and to prepare them for the next day of the camp.

Programme Highlights

  • Expert Instruction: Classes are led by internationally certified British Council teachers with extensive experience in phonics and early literacy development. 
  • Interactive Sound Exploration: Children will engage in fun games such as a lively Sound Safari and Letter Detective hunt, mastering the letter sounds through short, captivating activities like sound bingo, rhyming races and flashlight object hunts. Lively songs, energetic movements, and playful games will keep the energy high and sounds memorable.
  • Blending and Segmenting: Children learn to blend and segment CVC words through hands-on fun. They will unearth magnetic letters in sensory bins, race to build words in fast-paced challenges, and play interactive games that sharpen blending and segmenting skills, boosting confidence with every word.
  • Love for Reading: Daily story time sparks a love for reading as students retell tales through role-playing, phonics-driven reading, and creative crafts that bring stories to life. By acting out characters and crafting story props, the children connect their phonics skills to the magic of storytelling.
  • Dynamic, Age-Appropriate Activities: Activities rotate every 15-20 minutes to match young learners’ attention spans. With colourful props, movement breaks like silly walks and lava runs, and collaborative team games, children stay energised, engaged, and eager to learn.
  • Certificate of Completion: Participants receive an official Course Completion Certificate from the British Council and AISL Outdoor upon successfully completing the programme.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop Key Phonics Skills: Children will actively practise letter sounds, explore correct letter formation, and build skills in blending and segmenting CVC words through engaging, hands-on activities designed for their developmental stage.
  • Grow Confidence in Reading and Spelling: By using phonics skills to blend and read new CVC words and segment to spell, children will gain confidence in early reading and spelling, laying a strong foundation for literacy.
  • Strengthen Early Handwriting Skills: Through fun fine motor activities, such as tracing, drawing, and using tools like crayons and sensory bins, children will improve letter formation and build handwriting readiness.
  • Spark a Love for Reading: Daily exposure to a variety of fiction and non-fiction stories will ignite children’s curiosity and excitement for reading, helping them discover the joy and power of stories and knowledge.
  • Unleash Creativity Through Storytelling: Children will express their imagination by responding to stories through role-playing, retelling, and creating story-inspired crafts, fostering a deeper connection to literacy and self-expression.
  • Foster Social and Emotional Growth: Through collaborative games, sharing, and teamwork, children will develop essential social and emotional skills, building confidence in communication and cooperation in a fun, supportive environment.
