GameChangers League: Pixel Heroes for the Planet (Day Camp)
GameChangers League: Pixel Heroes for the Planet is an exciting, beginner friendly coding and game design camp for students aged 6–8. Using Microsoft MakeCode Arcade, students step into the role of Pixel Heroes, travelling through the history of video games while learning how their digital creations can help protect the world around them.

For day camps, the fee includes study materials, providing the necessary resources for each student's daily activities and learning experiences.
Please be aware that transportation to and from the camp, flight tickets, visa fees, and personal travel insurance are not included in the camp fees and should be arranged separately by the participants.

Programme Highlights
- Become a Pixel Hero with a Mission: Students don’t just play games—they design games with purpose, creating digital heroes who protect nature, help animals, and make communities better.
- BeginnerFriendly Coding with MakeCode Arcade: Using a colourful, blockbased coding environment, students learn to create sprites, animations, and simple game mechanics in an intuitive and ageappropriate way.
- Games Through the Ages: From retrostyle pixel adventures to simple platformers, students explore how games have evolved and how different mechanics shape gameplay.
- Coding for the Planet: Each project connects coding skills with sustainability themes, showing students how creativity and technology can support environmental awareness.
- HandsOn, Playful Learning: Students learn by building, testing, and improving their games, supported by guided challenges and openended creative time.
- Teamwork, Sharing, and Confidence: Students collaborate, share ideas, give friendly feedback, and celebrate one another’s creations in a supportive learning environment.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, students will:
- Understand Core Coding Concepts: Use sequences, loops, events, variables, and simple conditionals to control characters and gameplay.
- Develop Computational Thinking Skills: Practice problemsolving, logical reasoning, and breaking ideas into clear steps.
- Create and Share Playable Games: Design, test, and present original games using MakeCode Arcade’s blockbased editor.
- Build Confidence as Digital Creators: Feel proud using technology to express ideas, tell stories, and solve challenges.
- Collaborate and Communicate: Work with peers, give and receive feedback, and reflect on their learning process.
- Understand Positive Digital Impact: Recognise how both digital projects and everyday actions can help protect the environment and support communities.
