This Harrow Summer School – International Students Programme invites students from around the world to experience authentic British boarding life, while developing high level English communication skills and exploring the cultural richness of the United Kingdom.

Designed and delivered entirely by Harrow School UK, the programme combines rigorous English instruction, project based learning, cultural excursions, and a full boarding school lifestyle—supported by Harrow’s renowned pastoral care system.

Students receive 35 hours of high quality English language instruction, taught in small, CEFR aligned classes by experienced Harrow EFL teachers. Learning focuses on communication, pronunciation, vocabulary development, confidence building, and real world language use, including fieldwork around the Harrow campus and local community.

Beyond the classroom, students enjoy a full programme of sports, arts, evening activities, and signature cultural excursions, including a magical visit to the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour. Students reside in Newlands House, one of Harrow’s historic boarding houses, with 24/7 care provided by Harrow’s own staff.

This programme offers a rare opportunity to study, live, and grow on one of the world’s most iconic school campuses.

NEW: Dual Campus Harrow Experience (Optional Upgrade)

From Harrow Hong Kong to Harrow UK – One Journey, Two World Class Schools

For student seeking an even more distinctive and future focused experience, we are proud to offer an optional dual campus pathway: 3 days at Harrow Hong Kong + 14 days at Harrow School UK

This unique extension transforms the summer school into a single, progressive learning journey across two top international Harrow schools—an experience available nowhere else.

Why This Is Truly Unique

  • Students begin their journey at Harrow Hong Kong, one of Asia’s leading British international schools, where they receive targeted academic and language preparation.
  • They then transition seamlessly to Harrow School UK, arriving confident, prepared, and ready to thrive in a full UK boarding environment.
  • In one summer, students experience two elite Harrow campuses, two learning cultures, and a clear academic progression—from preparation to immersion.

This pathway is ideal for students who aspire to future overseas study and want to maximise confidence, readiness, and success before entering the UK boarding school environment.

Accommodation - Newlands Boarding House

Newlands opened in 1889, with Francis Marshall as House Master and seven boys on its roll. Although boarding houses at Harrow were traditionally named after their founding House Masters, Marshall more likely named Newlands after Newlands Valley in the Lake District, near to his family home and with a tranquillity reminiscent of Harrow Park. Newlands was the first boarding house to have electricity, and this may be the reason for the House colour: a distinctive canary yellow.

Notable Old Boys include pioneer aviator Edward Teshmaker Busk; founder of Exbury Gardens, Lionel de Rothschild; Danish politician Per Torben Feferespiel; Zambian politician Stewart Gore-Browne; Chief of the General Staff General Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank; author Raymond Sheffield Hamilton-Grace; anthropologist Thomas Harnett Harrisson; actors Julian Holloway, Guy Middleton, and Sir Nigel Ross Playfair; circus owners Cyril Bertram and Bernard Notley Mills; astronaut Dr Nicholas Patrick; economist Professor Arthur Cecil Pigou; physiologist and mountaineer Dr Lewis Griffith Cresswell Evan Pugh; and skier William James Riddell.

Transfers

If a transfer has been requested, our staff will meet the students arriving at Heathrow or Luton airports and accompany them to Harrow School. We collect any children travelling as Unaccompanied Minors directly from their airline representatives. On departure day, we will take students to the relevant airport, through check-in and to the security gate. Transfers are included in the course fee (subject to Terms and Conditions) and valid for the arrival and departure day of the course.
