Programme Highlights

1. A Clear Educational Aim

Across five days, students operate as a professional podcast production team. Their task is to create a credible, engaging audio story for a real audience — researching carefully, structuring a strong narrative, asking intelligent questions, and producing audio that sounds polished and professional. This integrated process gives students a realistic understanding of how high‑quality media is created, refined, and delivered.

2. Three Integrated Learning Strands

Learning is organised around three interconnected strands that run throughout the programme:

  • Journalism & Credibility – Research skills, fact-checking, ethics, questioning, and clarity of information.
  • Storytelling & Communication – Narrative structure, voice, scriptwriting, performance, and audience engagement.
  • Production & Sound Engineering – Microphone technique, recording practice, sound design, editing, and final mix.

3. Five Progressive Modules

The programme is delivered through five carefully sequenced modules, each building toward the final podcast episode:

  • Newsroom Foundations — What Makes Media Trustworthy
  • Storytelling Studio — Narrative Voice & Structure
  • Interview Lab — Asking Better Questions
  • Studio Skills — Recording & Sound Engineering
  • Production Week — Build, Edit, Publish

4. The Media Portfolio

By the end of the programme, every student will have contributed meaningfully to a completed team podcast and will leave with a media portfolio that captures their development in research, communication, collaboration, and technical production — a concrete record of skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programme, students will be able to:

  • Speak more confidently and clearly in English
  • Research topics responsibly and distinguish fact from opinion
  • Plan and structure an engaging audio narrative
  • Write and revise scripts designed for listening, not reading
  • Conduct effective interviews using strong questioning and active listening
  • Use professional recording techniques to capture clean, clear audio
  • Edit audio for clarity, pacing, and impact
  • Collaborate as part of a media production team and meet deadlines
  • Produce a complete podcast episode they can be proud of
